Fujian University of Technology (FJUT) Law School was officially inaugurated in September, 2013. Its predecessor was the Law Department of FJUT. The school’s research institutes include Construction Law, Civil and Commercial Law, Practice Teaching, Patent Research, and Intellectual Property Law. The school has also established the Institute of Law, the Intellectual Property institute and training center for Fujian province. The modern facilities of the Law School include well-equipped reference rooms, moot courtrooms, legal clinics, and evidence identification laboratories. The school offers two majors: Law and Intellectual Property Rights.

There are 748 full-time students, 638 majoring in law, 110 specializing in intellectual property rights, and 36 pursuing a double major. From 2008 to 2011, the employment rate of graduates has been constant and growing, reaching 98.25% in 2012.

The Law School offers a top quality legal education and cutting-edge research skills. The present staff of 33 people includes 24 full-time teachers, of whom 20 members (or 83.3%) are full professors and PhDs. 15 teachers have dual patent agent and lawyers’ qualification certificates. Honors bestowed on three staff members include the "May 4th" medal, "one of my favorite teachers in university" title, and the "Outstanding Teacher". The staff has also included seven well-known experts and scholars from seven leading domestic universities serving as visiting professors, and 28 senior experts serving as adjunct associate professors, teaching in the classroom and guiding students in their practice.

The Law School continues to monitor and strengthen the courses and curriculum on an ongoing basis. In 2008, the law major was ratified as one of the eight key majors of FJUT and approved as a "Training Mode innovative experimental area". In 2009, civil law was approved as a key built discipline. In 2011, the "Training Mode innovative experimental area" was approved at the provincial level. These achievements have greatly improved the level of professional development the school offers.

At present, marriage and inheritance law has become a course of excellence at the provincial level. Economic law, jurisprudence, and contract law are three other high-level courses. Distinctions among faculty members include expertise in engineering methods and the compilation of teaching materials, such as "materials come under property management law ", "contract law", "economic law", "the legal practice in enterprise management ", "contract law theory and practice", and "lawyer law". Based on these accomplishments, the Law School won third prize in university-level teaching achievement.

In scientific research, teachers are engaged in projects at various levels, including the national level, and their theses have been well received. In recent years, teachers have taken part in one national, two ministerial, six provincial level and 12 departmental projects. In addition, teachers in the Law School have participated in 25 university-level projects, written more than 140 papers and compiled over ten teaching materials. Teachers constantly incorporate their research into their teaching, enriching, updating and improving course contents to the great benefit of the students.

For the past few years, students of the Law School have excelled in various extracurricular academic science and technology competitions. They won third prize in the ninth "challenge cup" competition for Fujian province students, third prize in "Fujian province colleges and universities 'Jiageng cup' legal knowledge competition", first and second prizes in RongCheng University’s courseware of legal systems and speaking lesson competition, and they were awarded best organization in the "I am with Fuzhou`s legal construction" competition. The number of students who take the post-graduate entrance examination gradually increases.

On April 20, 2012, FJUT Law School, in cooperation with the Fujian Intellectual Property Office, established the intellectual property training center, as the training and scientific research base for the West Coast Economic Zone. To further integrate study with application, the School has established 12 stable practice bases outside the school where students acquire working knowledge, skills and on-site trial experience.
