A 4-year undergraduate Bachelor degree program

Profile at a Glance
The program, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, is one of the six key disciplines of Fujian University of Technology, and one of the “key featured programs” in Fujian province in 2007. Mechatronic Engineering was approved as the key discipline by the education department of Fujian in 2011.

Objectives: This major is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in order to meet the needs of the rapidly growing manufacturing and automation sectors in China. The program covers advanced design and manufacturing, mechatronic equipment manufacturing and management, mechatronic numeric computing, and information production. Graduates will be prepared to become professionals working in the manufacturing and automation sectors.

Feature: This major is based on the integration of mechanics and electronics, and the application of information technology in the manufacturing industry. Graduates will have the ability to operate mechatronic equipment with numeric control and excel at CAD/CAM advanced manufacturing.

Postgraduate Program

Material Science and Engineering

The duration of the postgraduate education is 2.5 years. Graduates will be awarded the Master of Engineering degree.

Objectives:

1) Students will master the fundamental theories, systemic knowledge, and methods of Materials Science and engineering necessary to practice in the field.

2) Students will develop the ability to study, innovate, and research independently, in order to take on design, research and development, and engineering management projects in the materials area.

3) Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the present and anticipated future developments in material science and engineering, and have the academic knowledge and researching techniques required for further education.

Credit Requirements:

Student must complete a minimum of 36 credits, in which at least 20 are in Discipline Required Courses, at least 12 in Technical Elective courses, at least one in Academic Activities, and 2 in a Practice Link course.

Prominent Engineer Program

Material Forming and Controlling Engineering

This program was authorized by the Ministry of Education. Students will study in school for three years and practice in enterprises for one. Graduates will be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Objectives:

1) Students will master the knowledge and techniques of the mechanical and materials disciplines. They will learn the methods, principles, processes and machinery used in material forming and controlling engineering.

2) Students will gain expertise in the manufacturing, researching, technology development and enterprise management areas of material forming and controlling engineering.

Credit Requirements:

Student must complete a minimum of 187 credits, in which 64 are in fundamentals of natural science and social science courses, 82 are in discipline and major related courses, and 41 are in practical courses.

Material Science and Engineering

This program was authorized by the Ministry of Education. Students will study on campus for three years and gain practical experience in enterprises for one year. Graduates will be awarded the bachelor of engineering degree.

Objectives:

1) Students will gain comprehensive knowledge and the techniques of material science and engineering, including design, preparation, analysis and the processing of materials.

2) Graduates will have expertise in manufacturing, researching, technology development and enterprise management in the materials science and engineering area.

Credit Requirements:

Student must complete a minimum of 183 credits, in which 65 are in fundamentals of natural science and social science courses, 78 are in discipline and major related courses, and 40 are in practical courses.

Undergraduate Program

Materials Science and Engineering

This is a four-year undergraduate program. Graduates will be awarded the bachelor of engineering degree.

Objectives:

1) Students will gain comprehensive knowledge in materials science and engineering and develop their skills and creative talent.

2) Graduates will be qualified for jobs in research, material production, application development and production management in material science and engineering and related fields, as well as research and development of new materials in highly technological areas. They will have the expertise for positions including the evaluation and inspection of materials and products in enterprises, foreign trade businesses, commodity inspection bureaus, customs, and scientific research institutes.
