Ⅰ. An Introduction to Fujian University of Technology

FJUT is situated in Fuzhou – the provincial capital of Fujian in China. The city has over 2000 years of history, and served as an important port of the southeast coast of China.

FJUT occupies an area of 136.88h㎡. It is a public university at provincial level with a focus on practice and application. Its core offer lies in engineering while integrating other disciplines such as management, arts, economics, science and law. The university originated from “Cangxia Jingshe” (Cangxia Elementary Technological School), which was co-founded in 1896 by Lin Shu, an eminent Fujian scholar and translator, and Chen Baochen, a tutor of the last Chinese emperor Pu Yi in Qing Dynasty, and evolved into “Fujian Gaogong” (Fujian Advanced Technological School) renowned before the founding of P.R.C. in 1949. Currently, FJUT is known as the “Huangpu Military Academy in Architecture” and also “the Cradle of Mechanical Engineers” in Fujian Province. The university possesses a well-structured and high-quality faculty. At present there are 949 full-time teachers, among which there are 366 teachers with senior professional titles and 705 of them own a doctorate or a master’s degree. There are 25000 full-time students in FJUT.Various supporting facilities have been constantly improving, with all kinds of facilities of teaching, living, and sports well-equipped and teaching equipment and instruments advanced.FJUT has been actively involved with international academic exchanges and cooperation, having established cooperative relations with prestigious colleges and universities in over 10 countries in United States, England, Canada, Australia, Russia, German, Singapore, Japan and so on.

Ⅱ. Students Categories

Chinese language students:the duration varies in one month, three months, six months or one year, two years. Semester begins in March or September every year. Students will be divided into different classes based ontheir Chinese levels.
Undergraduate students:the duration is four years. Semester begins in September every year (Programs are mainly organized by the Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering. Please contact the responsible persons of the departments or staff of the International Office if you have further inquires. Research projects: research content, duration and approach are subject to the discussion results of both parties.

Ⅲ. Entry Requirements
Entry Requirements: All the applicants should be non-Chinese citizens aged above 18 with valid passports and in good health condition. He or she should be willing to obey the laws of Chinese government and be abide by the rules of our university, and respect Chinese customs. Besides,

⒈Chinese language students:

Students who are interested in applying this program should provide the academic proof of completion of senior high school or above. (equivalent to the level of six form)

2. Visiting Students

1) They should pass the relevant Chinese proficiency test organized by FJUT if they are applying without HSK results.

2) Recommendation letters from two Associated Professor(or with high professional titles) are required.

⒊Undergraduate:

Applicants for undergraduate studies must completed senior high school and be under the age of 30.
Applicants should at least achieve elementary grade C in HSK test. Applicants for Chinese Literature and Chinese history programs must pass HSK medium grade C or higher.
They should pass the relevant Chinese proficiency test organized by FJUT if they are applying without HSK results.

Ⅳ. Tuition for International Students in FJUT

For the tuition fees for international students, part of the international student will receivescholarship and the rest of them will be studying at their own expenses. Please refer to appendix 1 for how to apply a scholarship.The tuitions of the international students at their own expenses (in RMB terms) are as follows:

Ⅴ.Facilities and Costs of Accommodation
FujianUniversityof Technology is equipped with dormitories for overseas students in different conditions such as one-,two-,four-bedroom units.
There are color TV, refrigerator, washing machine, Internet access, bathroom, small kitchen in each room and the cafeteria provides delicious and various food for students. Meals for a day ranges from 20 to 30 yuan( paid by oneself).
Due to the limited beds, the university will prioritize those who enjoy scholarship. Self-funding students can find out more about the dormitories by email or telephone.

Cost: ¥4800 yuan each year for single room; ¥2400 yuan each year for double room; 1200 yuan each year for four-person room.
Ⅵ.Other Expenses
1. Expenses on the residency permit, visa and physical examination will be covered by applicants themselves.
2. The access to internet is free of charge, but the expenses of the books, materials, telephone, fax, and postage should be covered by the applicants.
3.Fees of the experiments, internship and traveling outside the teaching plan should be convered by the students.
Ⅶ. Insurance
FujianUniversityof Technology requests that each foreign student studying here should purchase medical insurance covering the whole duration of their study. Insurance should at least include personal accident insurance and medical insurance. Students can purchase the insurance before or after coming to China. Students should hand in the insurance policy given by insurance company( or other related institutions) including accident and hospitalization insurance, written by Chinese or English. Students without health insurance will not be accepted.
Ⅷ. Application and the Test
⒈Undergraduate students:
Before April 30th of each year(Time for autumn semester students)
⒉Chinese language students:
Applicants should submit the applications before November 30th for the next spring semester and submit the applications before April 30th for the autumn semester. ( Applicants will receive the notification whether the application study program will be held after December 15th or May 15th.)
⒊Short-term program:
FujianUniversityof Technology is committed to working with the institutions of higher learning and education institutions in the world to carry out short-term training programs. Details of the rules such as subject arrangements, time and tuition fees are subject to the negotiation results of cooperative parties. Foreign institutions of higher learning and education institutions willing to cooperate are welcome to negotiate about the related details.

Ⅸ. HOW to APPLY
1. Applicants can ask for the Application for Admission Form from International Office of Fujian University of Technology (or download it from the website: www.fjut.edu.cn )
2. Documents to submit to the International Office:
a) Filled application form for Study in Fujian University of Technology;
b) Passport, transcript and copy of the final degree(photocopies should be justified);
c) Health certificate and blood test report;
d) Six photos(five photos for short-term student)(passport photos);
3、The university will decide the acceptance of the applicants after receiving all the above-mentioned documents. Applicants will receive the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202). It takes at least eight weeks to send out the Admission Notice since the application has been handed in. During this period, we will contact you if there’s document missing. If all the required documents are submitted, we will start the review procedure ; if you pass the review, some necessary tests will be arranged. We will send out the Admission Notice as soon as possible to the accepted students. However, your e-mails may not be replied in time for some unpredictable reasons. The accepted students will receive the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) (Holders of the JW202 are supposed to apply for the Student Visa at the Chinese embassy in their home countries).
4、The admitted students should come to the International Office to check in with the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202); students who fail to get their visas on time should inform the International Office before.

Scholarship for International Students in FJUT
IIn the interest of promoting the scheme ‘Study in China’ held by the Ministryoof Education, as well as attracting international students, FJUJ is to establish its own scholarship scheme. Details are as follows:
Ⅰ.Eligibility
Applicants shall meet the entry requirements of international undergraduate students.
Ⅱ. Categories of Scholarship
1. FJUT Full Scholarship for Undergraduates, takes up 5% of the total international student number of the year.
2. FJUT Partial Scholarship for Undergraduates, takes up 10% of the total international student number of the year.
3. FJUT President’s Scholarship for Undergraduates, takes up 25% of the total international student number of the year.
Ⅲ. Details of Scholarship
• FJUT Full Scholarship for Undergraduates
o Student will get exemption from tuition, registration fee, experiment fee, textbooks fees and on-campus accommodation fee. If experiment or internship outside teaching plan are required, all cost shall be covered by students themselves; textbooks for compulsory units will be provided however other expenses shall be covered by students.
o Living allowance, which is ¥12,000 per person per year.
o An one-off settlement subsidy will be given for new students, which is ¥1,500 per person.
o Comprehensive Medical Insurance will be purchased by FJUT, which mainly covers the expenses for in-hospital treatment and personal accident.
o International travel expenses will be paid by the students unless there’s other agreement.
b. FJUT Partial Scholarship for Undergraduates
Students will receive exemption from tuition, registration fee, experiment fee, textbooks fees and on-campus accommodation.
c. FJUT President’s Scholarship for Undergraduates
For students who get “Excellent” in the annual review, a ¥5,000 RMB yuan scholarship will be awarded by the President.
Ⅳ. Duration of Study
4.1 Students who has been awarded a scholarship need to conduct their study in Chinese or English. If a student choose Chinese in his study but his/her Chinese fail to meet the entry requirement, he/she shall complete one-year Chinese language class and pass the test before proceeding.
4.2 Usually the duration of undergraduates study is 4-5 years(depend on different programs).The duration of scholarship will be decided by the duration of different program(which will not be extend in general).
Note: Students who receive Chinese Government Scholarship or other subsidies shall not be eligible to apply scholarship from FJUT).
