Ⅰ. An Introduction to Fujian University of Technology

FJUT is situated in Fuzhou – the provincial capital of Fujian in China. The city has over 2000 years of history, and served as an important port of the southeast coast of China.

FJUT occupies an area of 138.32h. It is a public university at provincial level with a focus on practice and application. Its core offer lies in engineering while integrating other disciplines such as management, arts, economics, science and law. The university originated from “Cangxia Jingshe” (Cangxia Elementary Technological School), which was co-founded in 1896 by Lin Shu, an eminent Fujian scholar and translator, and Chen Baochen, a tutor of the last Chinese emperor Pu Yi in Qing Dynasty, and evolved into “Fujian Gaogong” (Fujian Advanced Technological School) renowned before the founding of P.R.C. in 1949. Currently, FJUT is known as the “Huangpu Military Academy in Architecture” and also “the Cradle of Mechanical Engineers” in Fujian Province. The university possesses a well-structured and high-quality faculty. At present there are 1,230 full-time teachers, including 616 teachers with a senior professional title; 2 listees of the national 100, 1000 and 10,000 Talent Program and the New Century Outstanding Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education; 13 experts entitled to special governmental subsidies of the State Council; 17 listees in the provincial 100 Talent Program; 14 Minjiang Scholars; and 14 provincial teaching and technological innovation teams. FJUT currently has 21824 full-time students and 662 postgraduate students (including foreign students).Various supporting facilities have been constantly improving, with all kinds of facilities of teaching, living, and sports well-equipped and teaching equipment and instruments advanced. FJUT has been actively involved with international academic exchanges and cooperation, having established cooperative relations with prestigious colleges and universities in over 10 countries in United States, England, Canada, Australia, Russia, German, Singapore, Japan and so on.

Ⅱ. Students Categories

Chinese language students: the duration varies in one month, three months, six months or one year, two years. Semester begins in March or September every year. Students will be divided into different classes based on their Chinese levels.

Undergraduate students: the duration is four years. Semester begins in September every year. Programs are mainly organized by School of Internet Economics and Business. Research projects: research content, duration and approach are subject to the discussion results of both parties.

Exchange student program: subject to the specific cooperation agreements

Ⅲ. Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements: All the applicants should be non-Chinese citizens aged above 18 with valid passports and in good health condition. He or she should be willing to obey the laws of Chinese government and abide by the rules of our university, and respect Chinese customs.

⒈Chinese language students:

Students who are interested in applying this program should provide the academic proof of completion of senior high school or above.

2. General& Senior Scholar

Ordinary scholars applicants must have a high school education or above, and the age is not more than 45 years old. For senior scholars, they must have a master's degree or above, or an associate professor title, and the age is not more than 50 years.

⒊Undergraduate:

Applicants for undergraduate studies must complete senior high school and be under the age of 30. Applicants should at least achieve HSK4.

They should study one-year Chinese language and get HSK4 certificate before starting major studies if they are applying without HSK4 or above.

⒋Exchange student:

It is subject to the specific cooperation agreements

Ⅳ. Tuition for International Students in FJUT

For the tuition fees for international students, part of the international student will receive scholarship and the rest of them will be studying at their own expenses. Please refer to appendix 1 for how to apply a scholarship. The tuition of the international students at their own expenses (in RMB terms) are as follows:

Programs category: the first category includes philosophy, economics, law, education, literature (except literature and art), and management; the second includes science and engineering; and the third includes literature (art and literature).

If the study duration is one semester, the tuition is half of the corresponding category standard. When the study period is less than one semester, the tuition is decided by actual months: It is 3,000 yuan every month for the first category, 3300 yuan every month for the second category, and 4500 yuan every month for the third category.

Ⅴ. Facilities and Costs of Accommodation

FujianUniversityof Technology is equipped with dormitories for overseas students with two bedroom units.

There are color TV, refrigerator, washing machine, Internet access, bathroom in each room and the cafeteria provides delicious and various food for students. Meals for a day ranges from 20 to 30 yuan( self-sponsored).

Due to the limited beds, the university will prioritize those who enjoy scholarship. Self-funding students can find out more about the dormitories by email or telephone. It cost 5500 yuan each year for a double room

Ⅵ. Other Expenses

Expenses on the residency permit, visa and physical examination will be covered by applicants themselves.

 The access to internet is free of charge, but the expenses of the books, materials, telephone, fax, and postage should be covered by applicants themselves.

Fees of the experiments, internship and traveling should be covered by by applicants themselves.

Ⅶ. Insurance

Fujian University of Technology requests that each foreign student studying here should purchase medical insurance covering the whole duration of their study. Insurance should at least include personal accident insurance and medical insurance. Students should purchase the insurance before coming to China. Students should hand in the insurance policy given by insurance company (or other related institutions) including accident and hospitalization insurance, written by Chinese or English. Students without health insurance will not be accepted.

Ⅷ. Application and the Test

⒈Undergraduate students

Before April 30th of each yearTime for autumn semester students

⒉Chinese language students:

Applicants should submit the applications before November 30th for the next spring semester and submit the applications before April 30th for the autumn semester. (Applicants will receive the notification whether the application study program will be held after December 15th or May 15th.)

⒊Short-term program

Fujian University of Technology is committed to working with the institutions of higher learning and education institutions in the world to carry out short-term training programs. Details of the rules such as subject arrangements, time and tuition fees are subject to the negotiation results of cooperative parties. Foreign institutions of higher learning and education institutions willing to cooperate are welcome to negotiate about the related details.

Ⅸ. HOW to APPLY

1. Documents to submit:

All required documents must be clear e-copies of the original documents. Each set of the complete materials should not exceed 20 pages. Please use DIN A4:

-The Specified Scholarship Application Form

-Certificates of Highest Education (Notarized One)

-Physical Examination Record for Foreigner. The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihuaor http://www.campuschina.org). The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.

-Certificate of Awards

-Recent Standard Photos for Passport with White Background

All applicants for any kind of scholarship and self-sponsored applicants all should register in this website: http://laihua.csc.edu.cn/, and submit e-copy in this website and there is no need for hard copy. The university will evaluated comprehensively and then decide.

2. Review Procedure

The university will decide the acceptance of the applicants after receiving all the above-mentioned documents. Applicants will receive the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China. It takes at least eight weeks to send out the Admission Notice since the application has been handed in.

 If all the required documents are submitted, we will start the review procedure; if you pass the review, some necessary tests will be arranged. We will send out the Admission Notice as soon as possible to the accepted students. However, your e-mails may not be replied in time for some unpredictable reasons. The accepted students will receive the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China and they are supposed to apply for the Student Visa at the Chinese embassy in their home countries.

3. Note

The admitted students should check the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China; students who fail to get their visa on time should inform the International Office in immediately.

Scholarship for International Students in FJUT

In the interest of promoting the scheme ‘Study in China’ held by the Ministry of Education, as well as attracting international students, FJUT is to establish its own scholarship scheme. Details are as follows:

Ⅰ. Eligibility

Applicants shall meet the entry requirements of international students.

Ⅱ. Categories of Scholarship

Ⅲ. Details of Scholarship

Students will receive exemption from tuition, registration fee, on-campus accommodation and living allowance, which is 1200 per person for undergraduates and 1500 per person for postgraduates per month.

Ⅳ. Duration of Study

If applicants’ Chinese fail to meet the major requirement, they shall complete one-year Chinese language class and pass the test before starting their major. If they fail to pass with one year, their scholarship will be suspended.

 Usually the duration of undergraduates study is 4-5 years (depend on different programs) and the duration of graduates is 3 years. The duration of scholarship will be decided by the duration of different program (which will not be extended).

Note: Students who receive Chinese Government Scholarship or other subsidies shall not be eligible to apply scholarship from FJUT.
